Herman Miller Aeron review

The reviewer owned their first Aeron for 15 years starting in the late 90s with no issues until developing a numbing problem in their foot. They initially thought the chair frame was causing it and sold the chair, but later realized the issue was actually from sitting too much and needing deep tissue massage on their lower back, not the Aeron itself. After several years without an Aeron and experiencing new lower back pain issues, they decided to purchase another one. They are 6ft 170lbs and found the remastered version's lumbar support could be very aggressive if needed or backed off compared to the classic version. The size C provided a hugging, comfortable feel similar to a car seat, though it didn't have quite as much center lumbar support as the Haworth Fern. They appreciated that the C size follows the 2-3 finger spacing rule behind the legs for proper fit. After a week with the remastered Aeron C, their back pain was resolved, which was a relief given the 12-year warranty from an authorized dealer. They note the seat pan on the C is much more comfortable than size B, and recommend trying size C if borderline between B and C.

  • Size C provides hugging, car seat-like comfort
  • Proper seat pan sizing with 2-3 finger rule spacing
  • Relieved back pain after one week

Cons

  • Doesn't have quite as much center lumbar support as Haworth Fern
  • Size C couldn't get as aggressive support as size B
  • Breaking the 2-3 finger spacing rule makes it less comfortable
