Herman Miller Aeron review
The commenter shares their very mixed experience with the Aeron after 5+ years of ownership. While they acknowledge the chair has some positive qualities, they've concluded it's not actually a healthy chair for prolonged sitting and that they wouldn't recommend it. They experienced persistent issues, though for the first couple of years they attributed any discomfort to their own posture rather than the chair itself. Eventually they realized the chair was part of the problem. When they switched to a Cosm chair (which they tried because it looked similar aesthetically but promised better back support), they found it significantly more comfortable and stopped experiencing the issues they'd had with the Aeron. They also note that the Cosm doesn't require any adjustments beyond height - you just sit down and it works, unlike the Aeron which requires extensive tweaking of settings.
Cons
- Not healthy for long-term sitting
- Caused ongoing discomfort issues
- Initially blamed themselves rather than recognizing chair problems
- Requires extensive adjustment to get right
