Steelcase Amia review

The commenter describes their chair shopping experience, noting that the Amia is one of their favorite chairs. They say most likely you'll fit in the chair great and it will be a big upgrade from your last chair. However, they warn that you can get a lot worse for $700-$1000 days. The Amia is one of the less expensive high-quality ergonomic chairs, which is right about where you need it. They also mention that if it's on sale, it could be a good deal, though they note that they typically see them new at around $600, which suggests the $200 used price is very reasonable. At 5 feet 4 inches and about 140 pounds, they found that if your feet go flat on the floor and the Standard cylinder (without tilt/tension) and a half inches reach, which is right about where the back's pivot point is (nearly), the seat depth at the very back should be too tight. That said adjustment is what makes it work for shorter legs.

Pros

  • One of favorite chairs
  • Good fit for most people
  • Big upgrade potential
  • Reasonably priced for quality
  • Good adjustability for shorter users

Cons

  • Seat depth may need adjustment for shorter legs
