Okamura Baron review
A 182cm/80kg tall-torso office worker tested premium chairs in Japan. Steelcase Gesture ranked #1 for exceptional headrest, comfort, and lumbar support. Leap and Embody also impressed. Aeron felt too posture-rigid for mixed gaming/work use. Okamura chairs didn't fit well, and Silphy's short backrest caused shoulder interference.
182 cm80 kg
Pros
- Steelcase Gesture: Perfect headrest fit, excellent seating comfort, natural lumbar support across entire backrest
- Steelcase Leap: Very comfortable overall fit, natural spine-following backrest better than artificial lumbar support
- Herman Miller Embody: Good balance between comfort and posture support with more freedom than Aeron
- Herman Miller Sayl: Surprisingly comfortable flexible mesh backrest, good alternative to stiff mesh
Cons
- Okamura chairs (Baron, Contessa 2): Mesh stretches too much, doesn't conform well to body, questionable value
- Okamura Sylphy: Backrest too short, headrest hits shoulders when sitting upright - eliminated from consideration
- Herman Miller Aeron: Too rigid and posture-enforcing, uncomfortable for mixed gaming/leisure use despite excellent work focus
- Herman Miller Embody: No headrest available
